Techo Hun Sen Praises Cambodian and Thai Armies for Respecting Ceasefire and Urges Continued Efforts for Peace

Phnom Penh, July 29, 2025 — The President of Cambodia's Senate and former Prime Minister, Hun Sen, has publicly expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Cambodian and Thai militaries following the recent ceasefire agreement. Through a social media post, Hun Sen emphasized his ongoing dedication to safeguarding peace amid continued developments in the border area.

In his statement, Techo Hun Sen acknowledged the intensity of his work during the critical period. "Despite the ceasefire, I haven't had much rest," he wrote. "Last night, I only managed more than two hours of sleep. I will continue working until now, and this may extend until 7 p.m. or even later depending on how the situation unfolds."

He reaffirmed that his main task from July 28 to 29, 2025, has been to assist in the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, highlighting the importance of ending hostilities and establishing enduring peace. "Since noon on July 28, my role has been to help enforce the ceasefire, ensuring that the conflict is resolved peacefully," he stated.

Techo Hun Sen also thanked the armies of Cambodia and Thailand for their respect and adherence to the ceasefire agreement. He praised the success of the recent regional military meeting as a vital step toward stability and mutual understanding.

Encouraging continued cooperation, Hun Sen stressed the importance of working together to protect peace, noting that once peace is lost, it is extremely difficult to regain. "Let us continue to work jointly to protect peace, which is not easy to win and can be easily lost," he urged.

This statement underscores Cambodia's unwavering commitment to peaceful resolution and regional stability, reinforcing ongoing efforts to prevent further conflict and promote diplomatic dialogue in the border region.
